If you are certified as an advanced / deep diver and are looking for a unique experience outside of the regular dive sites, then a specialty dive site needs to be on your bucket list.
Specialty Dive Sites on the South Side
Dive Sites Included:
- Maracaibo
- Chun- Chacaab
- Punta sur (the Cathedral and Devil’s Throat)
Specialty Dive Sites on the north side
Dive Sites Included:
- Barracuda
- San Juan
- Eagle Rays (Cantarell Wall)
Dive description:
Specialty dive sites require advance notice due to a divemaster evaluation needing to be completed to determine your level of diving. This entails at least one boat trip prior to the specialty dive site. Specialty dive sites are also weather permitting and may need authorization from the local harbor master.
Eagle rays season is mid December till March. This is an incredible dive to experience, but please understand we are not guaranteed to see Eagle Rays. It will still be a fun and exciting dive no matter what.
Depth and strong-Dangerous currents are regular on these specialty dive sites:
- A dive computer is mandatory on these dives.
- Surface-inflated marker buoys are recommended.
- For Puntar Sur a dive light is mandatory and we highly recommend the use of Nitrox.
Mínimum of 4 divers for these specialty dive sites or a private charter is always an option.
