The course is completed over a period of 3 days, 4-5 hours each day depending how easy you master the skills. Training can be completed in the morning or afternoon, it is your vacation, your time.
Course Description:
Our course is designed to allow divers to become comfortable and confident with the skills needed to dive. A combination of e-learning, hands on skills and in-water training will guide you to becoming a competent diver. We focus on core skills in the Open Water Diver course, such as assembling SCUBA gear, buoyancy control and ocean preservation methods. Depths are limited to 60ft/18m deep (still with plenty to see).
The course is divided into 3 sections, e-learning, confined water diving, and open water diving:
- E-learning – Prior to confined and open water dives, you will have independent study where you will learn about scuba diving principles and terminology. After guided learning and quizzes, your instructor will review areas as necessary. This section is performed at your pace but is completed before your 3-day in person training. Paper book learning is available. Please contact us for details about this option.
- Confined water diving – You will practice using scuba gear in a swimming pool at our CARIBE PARADISE APARTMENTS or at our shop at CHANKANAAB PARK, until you’re comfortable. These practice “mini dives” will help you build confidence in your new abilities before making dives in open water.
- Open water diving – In this section the diver performs the skills and acts on the information from the e-learning/confined water diving training. This is where it all comes together. The open water section is a real-life experience of being a complete SCUBA diver. Your instructor will be supporting you every step of the way.
Once these 3 sections are completed, you will receive a temporary digital certification card. After PADI processes your information, you will be assigned an eCard with your unique diver number. This is valid worldwide and does not expire. A PADI Open Water Diver certification is your passport to underwater adventure! Please note that once you are certified it’s important to stay current with your diving. The more you dive, the better you become. However, if you find that you didn’t dive for a long time or generally need a refresher (View Refresher Program). We can help get you back in the water.
